The Reliability of Bible
Human beings are social beings who live together and set some mechanisms of governing their interactions; according to Versluis, 2008, religion is an aspect of human social life which provides for virtues and vises among a particular society. Religion is defined as an institutional system of belief, symbols, value, and practices that followers to the religion should adhere to; the concept of religion brings forth the need for a central source of power, guidance, reference, and direction.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on The Reliability of Bible specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More In the Christian religion, the bible is used as the source document where Christians should refer to and follow the teachings of in the book. The bible has sixty six books which Christians belief they were written with the inspiration of God (God is the Supreme Being worshiped by the religion). The bible was written over two thousand years a go however the Christians believe it is still applicable in modern changed lifestyle; the age gap between current generation and the time the bible was written creates the question of how reliable the bible is in modern Christian lives. Other than the difference, there are a number of stories, parables, historical analysis, and teachings that are written in context of older generations mostly the Jews. Depending with once understanding and believes about the bible, there have been numerous questions that seek to challenge the level at which modern generation can rely with the bible; this is so despite the book having been existence and bestselling book since its publishing 1 Thesis Statement A number of people in the world today approach historical books with some sense of uncritical and have trust with what they see or read to be accurate and authoritative; despite the notion, when historical material becomes the moral guidance, then people seems to be uncomfortable with the materi al. The bible has fallen in the trap of some of the world historical books that have been criticized and faces feign intellectual objections, claiming alleged contradictions in its teachings; this creates the question of how reliable the bible is. This paper discusses the reliability of the bible in modern lifestyle; it will discuss some of the contradictions that some scholars and laymen people have brought up about the holy book. The reliability of the bible It is evident that some scholars, locals, illiterates and literates do not trust the bible and some of its translations that have been made to the historical book; other people, either believers, non believers, and other religions have considered the bible as a mere derivate of Babylonian and Assyrian believes/way of life and law codes; some people are of the opinion that the reliability of the bible can be challenged by its contradictions that exists; for example phrases like ââ¬Å"Cleanliness is next to godlinessâ⬠, is challenging in meaning and context.Advertising Looking for essay on religion theology? The quality of the manuscript When reading the Old Testament, one notes of small number of Hebrew manuscripts as the Jewish had the tradition of burying inappropriate and unwanted manuscripts; m ost of the materials were also lost or destroyed during turbulent Israelââ¬â¢s history; it was in the sixth century, the manuscripts of the old testaments where standardized by the masoretic Jews and the Hebrew manuprists was supplemented by the Dead Deas Scrolls commonly refered to as Targums. When referring to the New Testament, there are over 5000 Greek manuscripts, 1000 of other languages lije Syriac and about 8000 latin manuscripts; other than the materials the bible has thousand of citations/references copies in works of early latin authors like Plato 3 According to the Bible, Almighty God is the most powerful creature that is responsible for creating the earth and heaven; the earth is where we life but one day if we maintain the faith and act according to the will of God, we will rejoice in heaven with him. The principle of having an eternal life with the Supreme Being works to the good of uploading high moral standings and virtues within the communities. In the bible, it is considered prestigious that people will live with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. The bible recognizes the works of early prophets in their works of developing the religion; it brings forth the struggles they had in the efforts of instilling handwork as a virtue among communities. They specifically recognize the work of Abraham, Mosses, Isaac, and Jesus; these people where portrayed as men of high moral standings, handworkersââ¬â¢ and people of high integrity, when the bible brings such issues, it aims at improving peopleââ¬â¢s virtues. The appealing stories presented in the bible are applicable in modern lifestyle where people are expected to have high moral standing and be handworkers4ââ¬â¢.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on The Reliability of Bible specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Quantity of manuscript The Bible teachings influences human beings and the observance of the world by the believers Man has also to adjust himself to align him with the teachings of the bible. The teachings are bidding at all the times and the punishment of those who do the opposite is left as the work of the super national being. Some regard religion as immorality of the soul especially the earthiest. Earthiest are people who donââ¬â¢t belief in the existence of religion. Under the frameworks of quantity, there are some facts that can show that the bible can be relied upon, they include: The Bible is a Unique Book The bible has been written by over forty people of different lifestyles ranging from immerse poverty to very wealthy people the people ranged from kings and paupers, statesmen and fishermen, poets and physicians who used to live in more than one continent. The Bible is unique in its survival The period that the book has stayed and still has some relevance in modern life is an indication and test of time; the material can be relied to offer numerous explanations and seems to underst and situations well. Christianââ¬â¢s belief recognizes the existence of a super national force or power that have control over men and the activities that man do. The super natural may take any form of three supreme beings that is Holy Spirit, Jesus and God. In bible the phrase ââ¬Å"by the power of the Holy Spiritâ⬠is recognition of the existence of a supreme power which has control over humanity. Respect to the Supreme Being is highly adhered to and there is always a set mode through which the community or individual communicates with the supreme power. In the teachings of the bible, there are some aspects or doings that are considered sinful and anyone who contravenes them is believed that he will get punishment in an appropriate method according to the discretion of the supreme power. Christianity recognizes the works of early prophets in their works of developing the religion. They specifically recognize the work of Abraham, Mosses, Isaac and Jesus. The power of God i s seen an incomparable. He is seen as one who the early prophets served and the todayââ¬â¢s people have no alternative than to follow his teaching, the early prophets were seen as the ones who were to ensure that the religion and respect is accorded to God. He is invisible but omnipresent. This means that the misfortunes in the lifeââ¬â¢s of the Christians is as a result of the action of the supreme power. On the other hand, there is a book called the bible that governs the religion. If a believer does not comply with the requirement of the bible then the Godââ¬â¢s power is supposed to punish the individual 5Advertising Looking for essay on religion theology? Each religion has either written or unwritten laws that govern the religion. They are bidding at all the times and the punishment of those who do the opposite is left as the work of the super national being. Some regard religion as immorality of the soul especially the earthiest. Earthiest are people who donââ¬â¢t belief in the existence of religion. In sociology the word religion is used to means a wide range of activities. Religion is thus an institutional system of belief, symbols, values and practice that provide men solutions to their questions that the mere world that man can explain canââ¬â¢t give. On the other hand it always gives a solution to what man always seem not to have an a nswer. A common characteristic found among all religion is that they present a complex of emotional feelings and attitudes towards mysteries in life. Thus religion comprises of systems of attitude, beliefs and symbols which are based on the assumption that certain kind of social elements are sacred and supreme. There is also a structure of activities governed or influenced by this system. The religion of Christianity assumes that when someone has been saved, then he has been delivered from sins and oppression of different kinds. The deliverance is in the form of liberty they enjoy after the delivery in the form of salvation. The perception of the religion is that the issues and milestones that can be attained with salvation goes further than ââ¬Å"admission to heavenâ⬠but it includes having a virtuous life on earth as one prepares good relationship with God6 The most important aspects brought about by the topic is how people should respect each other and how the respect can b uild a community that is well interlinked and cares for each other. The topic seem to suggest that evil prevail in the community because people have little or minimal regard for each other; there is no mutual respect and people seem to be selfish and act as individuals. One of the most interesting aspects brought about by the topic is the role played by religion as an ethical principle; the chapter shows that people can live in harmony and liberate each other from social, economic, and political. Christians are supposed to think about each other and how they can solve problems of other people in the community. When reading the chapter, one gets the feeling that dignity in the world can be restored by people respecting and having value for each other; despite the differences in the community, Christianity always offers the people a chance to solve their differences and assist each other improve their living conditions, socially and economically. The role of the church has been brough t about in the chapter; the church should have frameworks that ensure its people live well amongst each other. The following are the questions that came into the picture: How will the religion ensure that the virtues have been adhered to? Who should set the standards of the religion? Are the deviant people expelled from the religion? Though Christianity is a highly personal issue, it has a social impact to the entire society. It is a very powerful tool in the society and performs a lot of important social functions in the society (Brà ¼mmer 101). It is through religion that suffering can be justified to be good and necessary; this was portrayed by Frederick Douglass, an American Slave deliberator when he accused the Americans of using Christianity particularly the bible as the mode of oppression. When reading the bible there are some verses that seem to support that when someone is suffering then he is more likely to go to heaven. In Matthew 19:24, English Standard Version states ââ¬Å"Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God,7â⬠the statement seems to strengthen that being poor Is a virtue in the Christian religion. When following the bible there can be some justification that someone needs not to be rich as when he get rich he is likely to be detached from his creator. When such notion as created is employed in modern life, then people are likely not to work hard nor accumulate wealth, this is not right. The bible generally gives an accepted mode of living and doing some functions, it is seen as an effective way that bring people together for a social good. It also emphasizes on the importance of each and every societal member8 Conclusion Different people practice different forms of religion. Christianity is one of the oldest and most practiced religions in the world. The bible recognizes God as the Supreme Being who has super powers to influence mankind in all as pects. It believes that all glory and power belong to God and thus he should be worshiped alone. The religion believes in the son of God, Jesus Christ and believes that the world is ruled through Holy Spirit. Reference List Brà ¼mmer Vincent. 2006. Free Essays on Parenting Styles
Parenting Styles Parenting styles vary. Some parents are strict, some are lenient. Some spank, some reason. Some show little affection, some give an abundance of hugs and kisses. The most heavily researched aspect of parenting has been how, and to what extent, parents choose to raise their children. Researchers have identified three parenting styles: authoritarian, permissive, and authoritative. Authoritarian parents must have complete control and expect a high level of maturity from their children. They lack clarity of communication and provide little nurturance. They impose rules and expect obedience. Permissive parenting styles are at the opposite end of the spectrum. They lack control and expect very little, yet open communication and affection are important to this type of parent. They submit to their children's desires, make few demands, and use little punishment. Authoritative parents are the most balanced. They are both demanding and responsive. They exert control not only by setting rules and enforcing them, but also by explaining the reasons and encouraging open discussion and allowing exceptions when making the rules. All three of these parenting styles are easily recognizable by their relationship with their children. The authoritative stands out as the most admirable style.... Human Resources Management 4 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
Human Resources Management 4 - Essay Example After implementing the policy of casual dress policy, Digital Device started to face few issues. The employeeââ¬â¢s behavior became more casual with the clients resulting in complaints to the sales manager. The Casual dress should be allowed but there should also be certain rules and regulations with respect to casual dressing among the employees. The policy should be revised in accordance with the HR manager and list of approved and not approved items. However after implementing the casual dress policy and revising it again after few months might not be acceptable for the employees and they might not agree to the revised list as to which of the type of casual dress to be followed. It is very important to communicate the changes that are to be taken place in the organization to its respective employees. Here the HR department plays a vital role as it is the duty of the HR to communicate the revised policy to the employees. The revised policy can be communicated personally to each department by conducting meetings with the respective teams by the HR head. This might have a positive impact on the employees rather than just sending mails and listing the revised policy in the notice board. The policy of losing the job if one found to be guilty of smoking or stealing has been practiced in most of the organizations. The new policy treat cigarettes as an illegal narcotic and aims to adopt a free smoker free workplace. If the policy is mentioned in the contract before joining the organization it can be viewed to be legal and very much ethical. The organizations aim to provide with a healthy working area and also ensuring proper health of the employees. At Health Unlimited each of the employees is required to sign a statement stating that the employee is a non smoker and will not smoke either at work or away from work. It was also stated that if anybody found guilty would be discharged from the job.

USA and Puerto Rico Essay Example for Free
USA and Puerto Rico Essay It is a matter of fact that USA is one of the most powerful countries situated in North America, whereas Puerto Rico is only the territory of the USA, although with a status of Commonwealth. Puerto Rico is situated in the northeastern Caribbean. It is necessary to underline that the nature of political debates between USA and Puerto Rico is ongoing subject not only within two states, but also in United Nations. (Morris 1995) The USA is a constitutional republic having the oldest constitution in the world. USA government is representative democracy and operates through the congressional system specified by Constitution. The government is thus represented by three branches: legislative (Congress is made up Senate and House of Representatives), executive (the President and the Cabinet), judiciary (the Supreme Court). (Scott 1983) Puerto Rico has approximately the similar government, however, differences are evident. Puerto Ricoââ¬â¢s government is Republican system made up of three branches as well as the USAââ¬â¢: legislative (Senate and House of Representatives), executive (governor), judiciary (court). The difference: executive branch in USA is president, whereas in Puerto Rico is governor. (Morris 1995) USA economic system is capitalist mixed economy presented by corporations, private firms and individuals performing macroeconomic decisions. (Scott 1983) Puerto Ricoââ¬â¢s economy can be described as agricultural, whereas in USA the agriculture plays a minor role. Juxtaposing Viewpoints on Genetic Species Revival Essay -- genetic engi
Though it may seem that the issue of species revival through a means of genetic science is a modern idea, similar arguments throughout the past also hold relevance to the modern issue of genetic species revival. To better understand the issue as it becomes more prevalent, it is important to examen different perspectives that span many centuries time, generating new insight on the issue. Examining different perspectives on the perceived human influences on species extinction vs. natural law and lack of adaptability, and give a determination on the ethical implications to society and ecology from the above arguments and philosophies from each viewpoint. Through these key statements, the arguments on genetic species revival can be effectively argued. The premise of the entire argument for and against genetic species revival rests with either the belief in human influences on species, or natural law. Human influences as a cause for species extinction is a recent idea which author Carl Zimmer gives a his main reason for favoring genetic species revival. ââ¬Å"If weââ¬â¢re talking about species we drove extinct, then I think we have an obligation to try to do thisâ⬠(Zimmer 451). In the authors opinion, human influences trump natural law, which he would consider to be an outdated and non-effective way of looking at how species become extinct. Therefore, because natural law is only a way of looking at how species become extinct, it is not a solution to species extinction. Thus, genetic species revival is the only way which human influences can be combated and the problem of species extinction can be solved. True, human influences may be a new idea ascribed as reason to species extinction. Yet Charles Darwin, an 19th century natural b... ...ophies from each viewpoint. Compare and Contrast ââ¬ÅRomeo and Julietââ¬Â and ââ¬ÅGnomeo and Julietââ¬Â Essay
The book ââ¬ËRomeo and Julietââ¬â¢ by William Shakespeare is about two opposing families with much hatred for each other. It shares many similarities, as well as many differences to the movie ââ¬ËGnomeo and Julietââ¬â¢ directed by Kelly Asbury. In both the film and the play, both families have extreme hatred for each other. For that reason, Romeo/Gnomeo and Juliet find a way to secretly show love for each other. Also in both the film and the play, Romeo/Gnomeo and Juliet fall in love at first sight. After just a day of knowing each other, Romeo and Juliet are surely in love and decide to secretly get married. Another similarity that they have, is Romeo/Gnomeo and Tybalt hate each other very much. In both the movie and the play, Romeo/Gnomeo and Juliet secretly sneak off to see each other. This is the only way they could be with each other without getting caught. In the end, they both have families that resolve their hatred for each other that has followed them for so long. The book and movie as well, have many differences. In ââ¬ËRomeo and Julietââ¬â¢ Romeo is killed with the poison that he drank. Therefore, Juliet also kills herself because she cannot live without the love of her life, Romeo. Tybalt ends up killing Mercutio. Romeo is fierce that his friend Mercutio is dead, so Tybalt and Romeo fight and Romeo kills Tybalt. Romeo also kills Paris. At the end of the story, Lady Montague also dies because of grief over the banishment of her son. However, in the film ââ¬ËGnomeo and Julietââ¬â¢ nobody dies, which is probably one of the biggest differences in ââ¬ËRomeo and Julietââ¬â¢ and ââ¬ËGnomeo and Juliet.ââ¬â¢ In Shakespeareââ¬â¢s play, Romeo and Juliet marry after just one day of knowing each other. Of course they do this secretly because they do not want the Capulets, nor the Montagues to know that Romeo and Juliet love each other. In difference, Gnomeo and Juliet wait until the family feud is resolved rather than to go behind their parentââ¬â¢s backs and marry secretly. In the book ââ¬ËRomeo and Julietââ¬â¢ after Tybalt is killed, he remains dead. However, in the movie ââ¬ËGnomeo and Julietââ¬â¢ Tybalt is revived. The movie ââ¬ËGnomeo and Julietââ¬â¢ does not have Lady Capulet, or Sir Montague, the original ââ¬ËRomeo and Julietââ¬â¢ book does. Lady Capulet dies after her son drinks the poison, because she could not bear his death. The time periods in both are very different also. ââ¬ËRomeo and Julietââ¬â¢ was written long ago. ââ¬ËGnomeo and Julietââ¬â¢ is an Animate movie in which took place in different backyards that did not get along and had much hatred for each other.

Case Study Drivers of Industry Financial Structure
Case Study Drivers of Industry Financial Structure Executive Summary KR+H is a manufactory company in cabinet industry and it had devised a unique operating strategy of producing high quality custom cabinets at a low cost. Because the investments will reduce costs and increase the working efficiency in manufacturing process. And the analysis will show that adding investment is valuable and profitable. Based on KR+Hââ¬â¢s past financial performance and the cost of investment, KR+H would need additional financing to fund the proposed capital investment. The internal financing could be very difficult for KR+H based on it had a deficit in 1992. And internal financing may also slow down the investments because KR+H has to retain its profit. Also rising the price is not a very good option in a long-term perspective. Because it could retard their growth and therefore did not represent a viable path to a long-term profitability. So we suggest that KR+H should finance the proposed capital b y relying on external financing from a bank or an outside investor. ContextKR+H is a manufactory company that designs, fabricates and installs high quality, uniquely designed cabinetry. Now it had devised a unique operating strategy of producing high quality custom cabinets at a low cost. KR+H believes that the use of computer-controlled equipment allowed the firm to significantly reduce their labor cost and other production cost while increasing the efficiency of the manufacturing process. In order to support the development if their innovative operating system, KR+H need to clearly define the scope and speed of growth for their business. However, the partners do not have internal funds to finance the investment and their access to external capital markets is limited. Therefore KR+H needs a better operating and financial strategy to managing rapidly growth and its capital. I think the article ââ¬Å"Seize advantage in a downturnâ⬠is very helpful. Many companies fail to see the opportunities hidden in economic downturns. In order to take advantage of opportunities, KR+H first need to do a thorough but rapid assessment of its own vulnerabilities and then move decisively to minimize them. David and Daniel, 2009) KR+H could approach their problem by using some of those steps introduced in this article such as Monitor and maximize its cash position 1. Evaluating the capital position: In the cash flow statement Exhibit 6, the net decrease in cash by $15,298 in 1991 and $46,955 in 1992. In order to meet cash requirement during 1992,KR+H gets a personal loan about $35,000 and the bank overdraft to cover its deficit about $14,000,which shows us that KR+H are short of cash during the past years and it gets worse. The total enhancement of the new investment will be: Category |Cost | |Require in Capital |$300,000 | | |$100,000(developing in 2 years) | |Software | | | |$25,000 ââ¬â $30,000 (maintain & update per year) | |Marketing |$40,000 |Based on KR+Hââ¬â ¢s past financial performance and the cost of investment, KR+H would need additional financing to fund the proposed capital investment for sure. 2. Adding investment is valuable and profitable: I think the proposed projects are profitable investments and it will add values. Because the investments will reduce costs and increase the working efficiency in manufacturing process: |Category |Number | |Increase production capacity |50% | |Labor cost saving per year |$170,000 |Another fact is that on a pro forma basis, KR+Hââ¬â¢s cost of goods sold in 1990, the year before merged is approximately 60% of sales. In 1991,the percentage is increased to 67% and in 1992 the year after the merger the percentage rose to almost 75%. It shows us that some unanticipated cost increasing rapidly while the revenue is rising. If KR+H could adopting the new investment it would make its production more efficiently and the technique may also save some cost of goods. In addition, the cabinet industry exp erienced a decline in efficiency in 1992. Firm size |Sales per work |Compare to 1991 | |Large |$120,000 |gain 9% | |Medium |$84,000 |decline 11% | |Small |$80,000 |off 2% | |KR+H could gain a long-term rapid growth in sales by first adopting the new technique and the improvements in production efficiencies will give KR+H more advantages in sales. There is no doubt that the investment will increase the operating leverage and also increase risk. In Exhibit 9, with investments KR+H will yearly saving $207,900. Therefore, adding the investment is very profitable. And also rising the price is not a very good option in a long-term perspective. Because it could retard their growth and therefore did not represent a viable path to a long-term profitability. I think KR+H finance the proposed capital by relying on external financing.Because the internal financing could be very difficult for KR+H based on it had a deficit that was covered with a personal loan to company about $35,000 by a partn er and a bank overdraft $14,000 in 1992. And internal financing may also slow down the investments because KR+H has to retain its profit. The investors wouldnââ¬â¢t want a low return just because the firm wants to invest. Thus, external funding will be a better choice. Ratios In 1992 and 1993, exhibit 4 Year |Return on Sales |Return on Equity | |1992 |2. 1% |21% | |1993 |8. 3% |98% | | Besides this, KR+H also is profitable in 1992 and assume that it will have 10% growth rate. Meanwhile, with the investments could save KR+H about $209,900 each year. Those profitable data in its financial performance will help KR+H to get a loan from a bank or other outside investors. Conclusion: KR+H has its new investments developed and they focus on reduction by continuing to increase the level of automation in the process. And this investment is valuable and profitable. Based on KR+H had performed not very well in their cash flow in the past 3 years. The company also troubled with limited access to the capital market. Therefore, it is necessary for KR+H to get external financing in order to maintain its revenue and get a rapid growth. References: Robert C. Leader of a Country Essay Example
Leader of a Country Essay Example Leader of a Country Essay Leader of a Country Essay To lead a big group of people it takes determination, leadership, understanding, patience and imagination. I have been captain of the senior soccer team for four years now and I have learnt a lot. It is very hard to lead a big group and to fulfill all of the necessities, however it only takes patience and a sensitive, yet strong personality to succeed as a leader. When it comes to leading a country, many things have to be taken into consideration. You have to be fair, you have to be a role model and you have to actually keep your promises. If I was the leader of my country, I would find a way to make it easy to be very democratic, I would set an example for all people, from small kids to adults and I for sure would only make promises which I knew I could keep. The Dominican Republic is a small island with many of the common problems which all countries face today. Some are a little more drastic, however the country has its beauties too. Picturing myself as the leader of my country, I would be very democratic. Every person has the right to speak and vote for its own desires. With such a large crowd it will be a challenge but everyone has to be heard, from complaints to positive comments. Setting an example is essential. I care about what others say and as a leader, I canââ¬â¢t lead if I donââ¬â¢t have the respect of the people and I canââ¬â¢t correct them if Iââ¬â¢m making mistakes too. Many leaders have had their scandals like John F. Kennedy and others and because of this they loose respect. To set a good example I would remain distant of the people to avoid scandals and to show how noble a leader can be I would make charity donations for the improvement in lifestyle of those in need. All leaders from all over the world make their promises to get elected and do not keep those promises. As leader of my country I know how much these promises mean to the people, therefore I would only make the promises I knew I could keep. Promises like the improvement of homes and provide shelter to those in need, the church would be provided with a fund, I would build schools for the improvement in education and I would build strong connections with other economically successful countries. As leader of my country, having said all the previous, I would be the kind of leader my country and many other countries need. I try to make decisions that benefit as many people as possible. I know I canââ¬â¢t please everyone, but itââ¬â¢s important for the people to get everyoneââ¬â¢s input. I would be good at facilitating compromise and consensus. Finally, I would have the final say, but Iââ¬â¢d still care if people thought I had made an unfair decision. I would be a democratic leader.

Basic accounting principles
Basic accounting principles The set of rules that governs the field of accounting are known as accounting principles. Accounting principles are conventions that provide a framework for accounting, book keeping, and financial reporting. These principles are essential for businesses preparing their financial statements. For reporting purposes, both internal and external, accounting principles ensure that the financial information should not be misleading for its users. During the Great Depression of 1929, US Government passed a law for the creation of convention, principles, and standards for accounting practices. These principles are known as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles or GAAP. GAAP helped in standardizing the practices used in the accounting industry for preparing financial statements. With the help of GAAP debtors, creditors and investors can analyze the financial health of the company and also compare its performance with other companies. All the companies are expected to follow these generally accepted accounting principles when they are preparing their financial statements. The topics that GAAP covers are assets, liabilities, revenue, expenses, equity, preparation of financial statements, and all the other industry-specific accounting practices pertaining to aviation, banking, etc. There are three principles of accounting. These are: The Business Entity Concept ââ¬â In accountancy, a clear distinction has been made between the business and its proprietor. Business Entity Concept means that the business should be treated as a separate entity from its owner. A business is a separate entity in the eyes of laws. In legal terms, it can be said that a business can exist even after the existence of its proprietors. Even in the books of accounts of business entity, each transaction is recorded from the perspective of the business and not from point of view of the proprietor. Going Concern Concept ââ¬â Going concern concept explains that the business until and unless entered into liquidation, is to be considered having a perpetual or an indefinite life. American Institute of Certified Public Accountants defines it as ââ¬Å"going concern concept assumes that the business will remain in existence long enough for all the assets of the business to be fully utilized. Utilized assets mean obtaining the complete benefit from their earning potentialâ⬠. Any business is said to going concern when there is neither an intention nor the necessity to wind up its operations in foreseeable future. Full Disclosure Concept ââ¬â Full disclosure concept requires that companies should reveal every aspect of its accounting in their financial statements. According to this concept financial statements should provide fair and full information about they purport to represent. To meet the requirement of Full Disclosure concept, financial statements are supported by the footnotes. For example, market value of investments, methods used for valuation of investments, inventories and methods used for charging depreciation on fixed assets, etc. are shown in the Balance Sheet as footnotes. The purpose of full disclosure concept is to provide all material and relevant facts pertaining to the financial health and results to its users.

Obesity Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 5000 words
Obesity - Research Paper Example Obesity is considered as a major problem in the United States for many decades. The rate of obesity prevalence has multiplied in the last few decades of the last century. However, in the past few years the percentage growth of fat people in the US has declined to some extent. Since obesity can give rise to several serious health problems and even can cause death, therefore it is very important that every year the obesity rate of Americans be monitored. Every year the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) studies the health conditions and nutritional levels of American people including both adults and children. To make proper assessment this program includes both interviews and physical diagnosis (CDC, 2014). According to NHANES conducted for the year 2009-2010 several facts came to light ââ¬â 1) In 2009-2010, there were more than 33 percent of adults and almost 17 percent of the youth who were considered to be obese, 2) the prevalence rate of obesity remained constant with the previous year 2008-2009 in case of both adults and children, 3) the prevalence of obesity between men and women was not different in 2009-2010, 4) the older people are more inclined towards obesity than the young adults (Ogden et al., 2012, p.1). Table 1 shows the prevalence of obesity among adult men and women from 20 years to over 60 in the year 2009-2010. Table 2 shows the prevalence of obesity among boys and girls in the age range of 2-19 in the same year. Among adult Americans, in the year 2009-2010 there were 41 million women and 37 million men who were obese. However, among adolescents between 2 to 19 years, more boys (approximately 7 million) than girls (more than 5 million) were obese. Moreover, the study showed that in between 1999-2000 and 2009-2010, the prevalence of obesity had increased among men but there was no major change among women. In the year 1999-2000, 27.5 percent of men were obese and this figure increased to 35.5 in the year
