It refers to the ability of being able to move self-sufficiently in labour market in order to realize ones potential. Education should prepare one for employment rather than delivering essential knowledge. I think that learning is of no value if it does not come of use. The lessons learnt in the courses and in the modules should prepare one for their future vocation. The lessons learnt should be in line with the needs of the present age and comprise of the technical and soft skills that organizations are looking for. Theoretical knowledge if not put to correct use will be rendered void. According to me, the educational system of a country should train the students for their career and provide them with relevant skill sets that they can use in the future (Dacre Pool and Sewell 2007). Elements of Employability I learnt from a reading that employability comprises of four important element. They are employability assets that consists of knowledge and skills. Deployment refers to the management skills in relation to career. The third important area is presentation that includes the techniques of interview. There are family responsibilities and other external factors that also influence the employability of a person. I learnt from the article that higher education should comprise of the five elements. They are disciplinary content knowledge, awareness about workplace, generic skills, disciplinary skills and experience at workplace (de Guzman and Choi 2013). I deduced the fact that understanding, skills, efficiency belief and meta cognition are four components of employability that are inter-related. I gathered from the reading that USEM model helps to think of employability on a more scientific basis and relies on research theory. Improving employability skills Employability skills are extremely essential in order to get a suitable job. Training along with practical applications of the theoretical knowledge can help immensely in getting the right job. It gives one an edge in job market. It can help one in getting higher-earning roles. Internships and work-study opportunities help a person to get the practical knowledge required for the job (Deeley 2014). Industry associations can be made use of that deliver enrichment programs. The enthusiasm of youth can prove to be vital for a business. They can bring a different kind of energy to the organization and the organization can make use of these skills in order to gain profit. Attribution and goal theory can be used in relation to learning soft skills. An integrative method that is assimilative is used that is based on attribution theory. It highlights the fact that self-regulation and socially situated aspect will be most useful. Self control will help one to create a good image in the workplace and ensure his growth within the company. Four-stranded concept of identity The traditional model of employability is being put into question. Value, social engagement, performance and intellect are four important aspects that can help in increasing the employability of a person (Jones 2013). I learnt from the reading that simply gaining knowledge will not account to much if not accompanied by these four significant aspects. These dimensions helps the graduate to be happy professionally and ensures their growth within the industry. These elements depend on each other and together they will give rise to a composite identity that contributes to the development of the organization. Universities encourage the students to involve themselves in Personal Development Planning (PDP). I learnt that it helps an individual in becoming self-confident and they emerge as self-directed learner. The list-approach can also be practised where the graduate attributes are lifelong learning, scholarship and global citizenship. The kind of occupation that the student is considering is important and the lessons imparted should be on that basis. Lessons learnt from the reading I gained essential knowledge from the reading that team work, problem solving, commercial awareness. Oral communication and presentation are integral for the success of the individual within the organization. Academic study should be linked to these four important factors that will help in the growth of the individual. Enriching the opportunities for development and filling the gaps should comprise essential part of the curriculum that will help the student later on. I learnt that the essential values related to intellect and value should be taught to the students at the graduate level so that they do not face any hurdle later on. One should be responsible from their college days because managers will expect their employees to be able to work unsupervised. The students should be taught understand different business situation and how to apply the expertise (Hinchliffe and Jolly 2011). I learnt that in the institutions of higher education students should be given projects and tasks tha t will prepare them for their professional life. Professional ethics and values should be taught to the students in the institutions that will help them later on. I deduced from the reading that time management should be taught to the students from the institutions of higher education and they should be equipped with the ability to meet timescales (Lang and McNaught 2013). Internships and projects can be very helpful for the students for reaching their future aim. Preparations to be done at present that will help in future profession Students should be taught teamwork in order to succeed at work. They should be taught proper mannerisms and how to communicate effectively for their professional life. Through projects and assignments at school teamwork can be encouraged. The students should be taught how to manage their finances and make suitable life plans. Students should be taught the essential aspects of decision-making and problem solving skills. Creativity in students should be encouraged because in the professional life, such skills will be appreciated and recognized. They should be able to think of different ways to achieve the same outcome. I think proper educational options should be provided to the students on account of diversity in population and in the workplace (Howell and Martinez 2017). The world of working operates according to certain rules. Young people should be trained so that they can adjust to the adult work culture. The industry relies to a great extent on certain terminology that is necessary for perfect operation. Students should be acquainted with the technical concepts and acronyms from their higher education so that they do not face any problem later on in their career (Jackson 2014). The language of the particular industry should be taught to the children from beforehand so that they do not face any hurdle. The students should be taught to be solution-driven and be self-sufficient and competitive. They should learn the entrepreneurship skills that will make them resourceful in their future career.
